How Is Indiana Medicaid Attendant Care Authorized?

Published July 27, 2026 · Reviewed August 17, 2026

Indiana Medicaid Attendant Care begins with program eligibility and an authorization through the applicable waiver process. The participant-centered service plan identifies the authorized service and hours. FFAC does not decide eligibility, approve hours, or add tasks that are not authorized.

What the service plan controls

The plan and current waiver service definition control which activities may be delivered. Authorized support may relate to personal routines, activities of daily living, mobility, safety, or community participation, but a general website example is not an authorization for one participant.

What FFAC does as the provider

After confirming program and network availability, FFAC hires and supervises qualified caregivers, delivers the authorized service, uses electronic visit verification, documents services, and coordinates within its provider role.

Before choosing or changing a provider

Ask the case manager or service coordinator to confirm the authorization, provider-change process, caregiver readiness, and proposed start date. The main Attendant Care in Indiana service page explains the service and FFAC availability. You can also review the Indiana Medicaid waiver guide.

Information disclaimer: This article is general education, not an eligibility, coverage, legal, or medical decision. Program rules and authorizations may change. Confirm with official Indiana sources and the case manager or service coordinator.
